Course Objectives

To enable managers to realise the value and benefits of the change and smooth the implementation by understanding the how and when of primary change activities.

Rationale

This course is based on years of change management experience, with a focus on using simple, best practise principles and tools that work. The course was developed to equip managers with essential change management knowledge so that they can plan and deliver the primary activities to support stakeholders in adopting the change, and measure the change outcomes. 

Introduction

John Kotter identified 8 steps of change in 1996, and they have stood the test of time.  The primary activities needed for successful implementation are also well-known and well-documented, after all change is nothing new. Using the 8 steps to determine the timeline for implementing the primary activities leads to a project plan.  Taking a pragmatic view of the primary activities provides a set of simple tools that are easy to communicate, delegate and complete enabling organisations to move at pace, with confidence.  

This course has a particular focus on the final 5 steps: communicating the change vision, removing barriers to change, generating short-term wins, celebrating success and sustaining the change effort, embedding the changes as business-as-usual. The ability to manage change is a necessary skill for leaders at all levels.  Managing successful change requires the coordination of activities from multiple disciplines.
